Blanket Sunday
The Evangelism and Outreach Committee selected February 14, 2010 for Blanket Sunday. This is in conjunction with Church World Service and will help people around the world, including those in our own country with the blanket project. The project and date were selected prior to the tragic events in Haiti but the Church World Service’s need for blankets has also grown as they too are responding with relief supplies for Haiti at this time. If you have not yet given to help Haiti or are willing and able to give a little more we invite you to help on Sunday, February 14, 2010. If you are wanting to support something a little closer to home, you may be surprised to hear that Church World Service has recently supplied the Salvation Army in Kansas City with 500 blankets and 2,000 blankets to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City in response to the winter storms that have hit the region. Your efforts can help keep someone warm with this love offering. A $5.00 donation buys one blanket. (A form will be provided for you in your bulletin on February 14). You can make checks payable to “CWS Blankets+.”
The Evangelism and Outreach Committee thanks you for your support. For more information about Church World Service please click here.
