The First United Methodist Church had its Ash Wednesday Service on February 17, 2010 at 7 p.m. We had around 38 people attend the service.

The Old Testament Lesson was taken from Joel 2:1-2, 12-17. The Epistle Lesson was taken from 2 Corinthians 5:20b-6:10 and the Gospel Lesson was taken from Matthew 6:1-6, 16-21.

During the invitation to the Observance of Lenten Discipline, Pastor Wayne urged us to take an inventory of our earthly treasures and after doing so this would tell us where our heart is.

Next was the imposition of ashes and then the confession and pardon through singing the hymn “Have Thine Own Way, Lord.”

Everyone joyfully passed the peace with each other and then we celebrated the Great Thanksgiving through communion.

The Service ended with the singing of “I Surrender All.”
